Kankhal Haridwar: Situated in the holy city of Haridwar, Kankhal is a small old hamlet and one of the Panch Theertha. The holy Sati Kund, the Daksheswara Mahadev Temple, and other Ashrams are well-known in this region. Kankhal is home to a large number of Havelis and estates in addition to several temples and ashrams. The ancient Hindu epic Mahabharata mentions Kankhal, which is thought to be the summer capital of Lord Shiva and Kurukshetra, his winter capital. Due to its historical significance, the city which is 3 km from Haridwar, draws a large number of pilgrims from all over the nation. Kankhal Haridwar: Unknown Facts About This Ancient City 

- In Haridwar, the Sati Kund is situated at Kankhal. Devi Sati, the daughter of Daksh Prajapati self-immolated in the Yagna Kund, or sacrificial fire since she was upset that her father had rejected her spouse, Lord Shiva. The famous Indian epic, the Mahabharata, mentions the Sati Kund, which is situated in Kankhal on the banks of the Ganga.

- Located in Haridwar's south Kankhal town lies the historic Daksha Mahadev temple, also called Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple. The Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple, a sacred place of immense devotion and faith among followers of Lord Shiva, is a popular destination during the Hindu holy month of Saavan. 

- It is believed that when Devi Sati self-immolated herself, then, filled with rage, Lord Shiva sent Virbhadra, one of his Ganas and a formidable warrior, to Kankhal. King Daksha's head was severed by Virbhadra. Following a protracted request from all the gods, Lord Shiva granted King Daksha life and placed a male goat's head on his body. After realising his errors, King Daksha apologised to Lord Shiva.
