Kartik Maas 2023: The holy month of Kartik is the eighth month in the Hindu Calendar. According to the Padma Purana, this month is the favourite month of Lord Krishna. Another name for this auspicious month is known as “Damodar Month”. This name got its significance from Lord Krishna’s Damodar Lila - where the Lord was tied by a rope to an Okhal by Yashoda Maiya. During the holy month, devotees worship the Damodar depiction of Lord Krishna by daily offering ghee lamps. The month is significant for enlightenment and purification. Performing Sadhana during this sacred month is considered to reward all auspiciousness. This year, Kartik Maas has begun on 28th October 2023.

Kartik Maas 2023: Do’s And Don’ts Of This Auspicious Month
- Spiritual seekers can cleanse their souls and receive divine blessings from Lord Vishnu during Kartik Maas. In addition to worshipping Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, this month is especially important for taking sacred baths, donating, and fasting.
- People must abstain from eating non-vegetarian foods and certain vegetables, like garlic, onions, brinjal, and pumpkin, throughout this auspicious month.
- Devotees must worship the sacred Tulsi plant during this auspicious month in order to seek blessings from the divine goddess. During Kartik Maas, devotees must offer water, light a ghee deepak in front of the Tulsi plant, and perform Parikrama around it since it is thought to bring good fortune.
- Devotees must pray to Lord Krishna and Lord Vishnu during this sacred Month. They must also offer ghee deepak every morning and evening to Lord Krishna’s Damodar idol in order to accumulate good fortune.
- Reciting the Damodarashtakam, reading Srimad Bhagavatam, Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Vishnu Sahastranam Strotram, And Shri Hari Stotram is considered to be very fortunate during the holy month of Kartik.
- Additionally, fasting and reciting the holy names of the Lord is also considered to be highly inauspicious.
