Karwa Chauth 2024 Vrat Katha: Karva Mata Ki Katha In English
Goddess Karva lived with her husband near the Tungabhadrara River. One day, while her husband was bathing, a crocodile grasped his leg and pulled him into the water. As her husband faced imminent death, he cried out to Karva. Rushing to the riverbank, Karva saw the crocodile dragging her husband away. With quick thinking, she tied the crocodile to a tree using a raw thread.
Due to Karva's unwavering devotion, the crocodile remained bound by the fragile thread. Both her husband and the crocodile were trapped. Karva summoned Yama, the god of death, requesting life for her husband and death for the crocodile. Yama refused, citing the crocodile's remaining lifespan and her husband's completed lifespan.
Enraged, Karva threatened to curse Yama if he didn't comply. Fearing the curse of a devoted wife, Yama sent the crocodile to the afterlife and revived Karva's husband. During Karva Chauth, married women pray to Karva Mata, seeking protection for their husbands, just as she saved hers.
Similarly, Savitri, another devoted wife, tied her dying husband to a banyan tree using a raw thread. The thread symbolised her unwavering love and faith. Even Yama couldn't take Savitri's husband's life, bound by her devotion. Yama returned her husband's life and granted Savitri a boon: her marriage would endure, and they would share a long, happy life together.

Karwa Chauth 2024 Vrat Katha: Karva Mata Ki Katha In Hindi
देवी करवा अपने पति के साथ तुंगभद्रा नदी के पास रहती थीं। एक दिन करवा के पति नदी में स्नान करने गए तो एक मगरमच्छ ने उनका पैर पकड़ लिया और नदी में खिंचने लगा। मृत्यु करीब देखकर करवा के पति करवा को पुकारने लगे। करवा दौड़कर नदी के पास पहुंचीं और पति को मृत्यु के मुंह में ले जाते मगर को देखा। करवा ने तुरंत एक कच्चा धागा लेकर मगरमच्छ को एक पेड़ से बांध दिया। करवा के सतीत्व के कारण मगरमच्छा कच्चे धागे में ऐसा बंधा की टस से मस नहीं हो पा रहा था। करवा के पति और मगरमच्छ दोनों के प्राण संकट में फंसे थे।
करवा ने यमराज को पुकारा और अपने पति को जीवनदान देने और मगरमच्छ को मृत्युदंड देने के लिए कहा। यमराज ने कहा मैं ऐसा नहीं कर सकता क्योंकि अभी मगरमच्छ की आयु शेष है और तुम्हारे पति की आयु पूरी हो चुकी है। क्रोधित होकर करवा ने यमराज से कहा, अगर आपने ऐसा नहीं किया तो मैं आपको शाप दे दूंगी। सती के शाप से भयभीत होकर यमराज ने तुरंत मगरमच्छ को यमलोक भेज दिया और करवा के पति को जीवनदान दिया। इसलिए करवाचौथ के व्रत में सुहागन स्त्रियां करवा माता से प्रार्थना करती हैं कि हे करवा माता जैसे आपने अपने पति को मृत्यु के मुंह से वापस निकाल लिया वैसे ही मेरे सुहाग की भी रक्षा करना।
करवा माता की तरह सावित्री ने भी कच्चे धागे से अपने पति को वट वृक्ष के नीचे लपेट कर रख था। कच्चे धागे में लिपटा प्रेम और विश्वास ऐसा था कि यमराज सावित्री के पति के प्राण अपने साथ लेकर नहीं जा सके। सावित्री के पति के प्राण को यमराज को लौटाना पड़ा और सावित्री को वरदान देना पड़ा कि उनका सुहाग हमेशा बना रहेगा और लंबे समय तक दोनों साथ रहेंगे।
