Karwa Chauth 2025 is a significant festival observed by married Hindu women in North India. This year, Karwa Chauth falls on 10th October 2025, Friday. The Karwa Chauth or Karak Chaturthi vrat is observed to ensure Akhand Saubhagya or good and long life of the husbands. For married women, this festival stands as a testament to the love, respect and care for their life partners. According to the Hindu Panchang, Karwa Chauth Vrat falls every year during the Chaturthi tithi of Kartik Krishna Paksha. Traditionally, married women uphold a strict fast from sunrise to moonrise, praying for their spouse’s well-being. However, many unmarried women also observe the Karwa Chauth vrat.
While the Karwa Chauth Vrat is mainly for married women, is it justified for unmarried ladies to observe this sacred fast? Let us uncover the answer to this question below.
Can Unmarried Women Do Karwa Chauth Vrat?
Yes, unmarried women can do the Karwa Chauth Vrat. While traditional practices mainly focus on married women, scriptures don't strictly prohibit unmarried women from fasting. They can observe the Karwa Chauth Vrat to worship Goddess Gauri and seek her blessings for an ideal partner.
Many unmarried women, eager to tie the knot or hoping to meet their life partner soon can also observe the Karwa Chauth fast. Some women even fast in honour of their fiancé or boyfriend, showcasing their love and devotion. The rituals to observe Karwa Chauth Vrat for unmarried women are completely different.

Rituals For Unmarried Women To Observe Karwa Chauth Vrat
Unmarried women can observe the Karwa Chauth Vrat by consuming fruits and water. For married women, the fast typically breaks with the moonrise, but unmarried girls can break theirs earlier, as soon as they spot the pole star, without waiting for the moon to appear. Additionally, they must not sit with married ladies during the Karwa Chauth puja and exchange thalis with them. Unmarried ladies must worship Goddess Gauri, Lord Shiva and Karwa Mata to seek blessings for an ideal and desired life partner.
