Chandra Grahan 2023: The last Lunar Eclipse of the year 2023 is all set to happen on 28th October 2023. Around 11:31 PM, the partial lunar eclipse is expected to begin. Additionally, the moon's surface will be covered in the darker umbra (a section of Earth's shadow) by midnight, or around 01:00 AM. The Lunar Eclipse will be visible from several Indian cities. North America, Europe, Africa, and other Asian nations will all be able to see this celestial phenomenon. A Lunar Eclipse occurs when the Earth casts its shadow directly on the Moon's surface when it passes between the Sun and the Moon. It is important to remember that lunar eclipses are only possible during full moons, which occur when the Earth, Sun, and Moon are all lined up in a straight line with the Sun in its centre. Before and after a lunar eclipse, the Sutak Kaal is observed which is an inauspicious time. There are certain tasks which are prohibited to perform during the Sutak Kaal. Let us check out the Sutak period and the list of do’s and don’ts to follow during this inauspicious period.

Chandra Grahan 2023: Do’s And Don’ts To Follow During Chandra Grahan

1. People must take a bath before and after the Lunar Eclipse period in order to cleanse their body, mind and soul. After the Grahan is over, it is advised to sprinkle some Gangajal all over the house.

2. During the Sutak period, it is advised to add Tulsi leaves in the pre-cooked food and beverages.

3. Cover your temple altar with curtains before the Sutak period and refrain from touching the idols until the next morning after the culmination of the Chandra Grahan. The following morning, cleanse your temple altar with the sacred gangajal and sprinkle it on the deity idols as well.

4. Pregnant women must refrain from eating and drinking anything during the eclipse period. They should also refrain from going outside during the Grahan sutak period. Before the eclipse begins, pregnant women can keep a coconut with them until the eclipse culminates. The following day, this coconut can be thrown in flowing water to escape the ill effects of the Grahan.
