Mauni Amavasya 2024: The Hindu calendar has its own set of regulations about the days that hold religious importance. Events like Amavasya, Purnima, Ekadashi, and Trayodashi fall within this category. Those who abide by Sanatan Dharma must strive to follow these regulations. Amavasya is a day with certain regulations that honour our "Pitru” or ancestors. During Amavasya, purchasing certain items is considered inauspicious. Let us check out the names of 5 things which are not considered auspicious to purchase on Mauni Amavasya.
Mauni Amavasya 2024: 5 Things To Never Purchase On Amavasya
1. Alcohol - Since Amavasya is one of the highly significant days according to the Hindu Lunar calendar, purchasing or consuming alcohol on this day is highly inauspicious. Given that Amavasya is associated with Shani Dev, it is believed that drinking alcohol of any form releases bad energy that can linger for a very long period.

2. Grains And Atta (Flour) - Also, one should refrain from purchasing items like flour and grains on the Amavasya. Purchasing wheat should be avoided, particularly around the "Bhadra Maas" new moon. It is thought that eating wheat purchased on this day sends it straight to your ancestors, making it inauspicious.
3. Puja-Related Items - Don't purchase anything sacred on this day. Purchasing items like incense sticks, flowers, puja thali, or clothing for the deities is not considered auspicious.
4. Broom - It is believed that Amavasya is a day devoted to Pitru or Ancestors. Scriptures hold that the goddess Lakshmi and the broom are connected. Purchasing a broom on the day of the new moon is supposed to enrage Lakshmi Devi. It halts the flow of money into the home. Negative energy permeates the home, and health-related issues also come along.

5. Meat - Buying and eating meat during Amavasya is considered unlucky, just like drinking alcohol. It is believed that eating any type of non-vegetarian food on Amavasya day can worsen the effects on your Kundli. Eating non-vegetarian food on this day intensifies Saturn's misery, according to the Lal Kitab.
