Mokshada Ekadashi 2023: According to the Hindu Calendar, Mokshada Ekadashi is commonly known as 'Gita Jayanti' and is observed on the Ekadashi tithi (11th day) of Shukla Paksha, the waxing phase of the moon, during the lunar month of 'Margashira.' The Mokshada Ekadashi vrat, as its name suggests, is believed to grant the devotees freedom, or 'Moksha,' from the cycle of life and death and access to Lord Vishnu's celestial dwelling, or 'Vaikunth.' This year, the fast of Mokshada Ekadashi will be observed for two days-- 22nd December 2023 and 23rd December 2023.

Mokshada Ekadashi 2023: Significance
On Mokshada Ekadashi, also known as "Mauna Ekadashi" or "Maun Agyaras," devotees observe "Mauna" a day without speaking for the entire day. This Ekadashi is very significant since it pardons all the sins and immoral acts carried out over a person's lifetime. It is also advantageous to give the Bhagavad Gita to someone who needs it, on the day of Mokshada Ekadashi, so that the recipient can experience Lord Krishna's blessings. It is believed that by listening to the Bhagavad Gita on this day, one gains the same benefits as one would from a holy Ashwamedha Yajna. The Vishnu Purana even discloses that the benefits of Mokshada Ekadashi fasting are equal to those of the other twenty-three Ekadashi vrats in the Hindu year.
Mokshada Ekadashi 2023: Vrat Katha
Legend has it that there once lived a just monarch named Vaikhanasa who governed Champaka Nagar with distinction. In a dream, he saw his father going through excruciating torture in hell. The next day, after discussing the dream with the royal court experts, he was recommended to consult Sage Parvata Muni for a resolution. In order to send his father to heaven, the king met with the great sage, shared his dream with him, and asked for advice.
The wise man closed his eyes for a while before explaining that he was suffering in hell because his father had abused his wife. Then, in order to aid his father in entering paradise, he recommended that the monarch keep Mokshada Ekadasi Vrat. Together with his spouse, kids, and other family members, the king observed the Vrat with great devotion. As a result, Lord Vishnu was pleased, and his father's sins were forgiven, sending him to heaven.
