Onam 2024: In Hinduism, Onam commemorates the annual return of King Mahabali, a righteous ruler to his kingdom. It symbolises the triumph of good over evil and the victory of righteousness. Lord Vishnu's Vamana avatar, who sent Mahabali to the Patal Lok is revered during Onam. The festival emphasises the importance of humility, selflessness, and devotion to the divine. Onam also celebrates the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth, reflecting the Hindu philosophy of eternal renewal. Through Onam, Hindus reaffirm their faith in the divine, seek blessings for prosperity and happiness, and honour the eternal values of dharma, karma, and bhakti.
