Fasting is another important ritual on Panguni Amavasai. Many devotees avoid food and spend the day praying and meditating for spiritual strength. Some follow a simple vegetarian diet and avoid negative thoughts or actions. Special abhishekams (ritual baths) are performed in temples, where deities are bathed with milk, honey, turmeric and sandalwood. People also light oil lamps and chant prayers, seeking protection from negative forces. Visiting Navagraha (nine planetary gods) temples is common, as devotees believe it helps remove obstacles and brings success.

Charity and helping others play a major role on Panguni Amavasai. People donate food, clothes and money to the poor, believing it brings good karma and divine blessings. Some organise Annadanam (free food distribution) at temples to serve devotees and the needy. Families also pray together at home, strengthening their bond and seeking prosperity.
