Pradosh Vrat September 2024: Pradosham or Pradosh Vrat is a significant Hindu observance honouring Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This sacred fasting day falls on the 13th day (Trayodashi tithi) of each lunar fortnight, occurring twice monthly in the Hindu calendar. Specifically, it is observed during both the waxing moon phase (Shukla Paksha) and the waning moon phase (Krishna Paksha). Devotees typically fast and worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati on this auspicious day, seeking spiritual growth, forgiveness, and blessings. Pradosh Vrat in the month of Ashwin will be observed on 29th September 2024.

Check out the list of 7 things you must offer to Lord Shiva on this sacred day to amass success and good luck below:

Pradosh Vrat September 2024: 5 Things To Offer To Lord Shiva

1. Water (Jal)

Offering water to Lord Shiva is a fundamental ritual. Pour holy water over the Shivling, symbolising purification and cleansing of the soul. Use a copper vessel or a lota to pour water, as copper is considered auspicious. This offering cools the Lord's fiery energy and quenches his thirst. As water represents life and vitality, this offering seeks blessings for good health and well-being. Chant "Om Namah Shivaya" while pouring water, demonstrating devotion and surrender.

2. Bilva Leaves (Bel Patra)

Bilva leaves hold great significance in Shiva worship. Offer three or five leaves to the Shivling, as they represent the three aspects of the Supreme Being. Bilva leaves embody the Trimurti – Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Their offering seeks forgiveness, spiritual growth, and liberation. Ensure leaves are fresh, green, and free from tears. As you offer, chant "Om Namah Shivaya," invoking the Lord's blessings and protection.

3. Flowers (Pushpa)

Flowers delight Lord Shiva, symbolising love, devotion, and beauty. Offer white, yellow, or red flowers like jasmine, marigold, or hibiscus. Avoid flowers with thorns or strong scents. Place flowers gently around the Shivling or on the deity's idol. This offering brings joy and positivity, seeking harmony in life. As you offer flowers, pray for spiritual growth, peace, and happiness.

4. Incense (Dhoop)

Incense sticks (agarbatti) purify the atmosphere, pleasing Lord Shiva. Light sandalwood, lavender, or chameli incense, as these fragrances calm the mind. Dhoop represents the destruction of negative energies and the invocation of divine presence. As the fragrance wafts, chant mantras or prayers, seeking purification and spiritual upliftment. Ensure the incense stick is safely placed and burns evenly.

5. Fruits (Phala)

Fruits symbolise abundance and gratitude. Offer seasonal fruits like bananas, apples, or grapes to Lord Shiva. Avoid cutting or piercing fruits; offer them whole. Fruits represent the cycle of life and the Lord's bounty. This offering seeks blessings for prosperity, health, and happiness. As you offer fruits, reflect on the Lord's generosity and provision.
