Radha Ashtami 2024: The sacred occasion of Radha Ashtami marks the birth anniversary of Sri Radha, the eternal companion of Lord Krishna. Falling on the 8th day of Bhadrapada's second half, this auspicious occasion is revered by Krishna devotees. Devotees observe a half-day fast, worshipping Radha Rani and Lord Krishna in beautifully decorated temples, adorned with flowers that captivate the souls of those seeking blessings from the divine duo.

This celebration honours the sacred bond between Radha and Krishna, embodying love, devotion, and spiritual unity. This year, Radha Ashtami is being observed on 11th September 2024. Devotees also uphold a fast on Radha Ashtami. If you want to observe the sacred fast of Radha Ashtami, check out the procedure and vidhi to uphold the sacred fast of Radha Ashtami.

Radha Ashtami 2024: Procedure And Vidhi Of Radha Ashtami Vrat

- To observe the sacred fast of Radha Ashtami, devotees are expected to rise during the auspicious Brahma Muhurat, at 4:00 AM. Following a ritualistic bath, a fast is to be maintained until 12:00 PM. Devotees may choose to undertake a nirjala fast (abstaining from water and food) or consume fruits, as their health permits, ensuring a balance between spiritual devotion and physical well-being.

- The devotees must recite Shri Radha Kripa Kataksh Stotra, Shri Radha Sahastranama or Shri Radha Mantras.

- During the Madhyahna Kaal, the devotees must perform the abhishek of the idols with Panchamrit - Milk, Water, Curd, Honey, Tulsi, and Sugar Powder of Yugal Sarkar (Radha and Krishna). In case, the devotees do not possess an idol of Yugal Jodi, they can perform abhishek of Laddu Gopal deity assuming him to be Radha Rani.

- Following the abhishek, dress Radha Rani in royal blue attire. As per the Indian scriptures, blue is Radha Rani’s favourite colour as it represents lord Krishna. Perform shringar of the deities and offer flowers, tulsi leaves, incense and light a ghee diya. Thereafter, perform aarti and recite hymns to seek blessings of the deities.
