Saphala Ekadashi 2024: Vrat Katha
Mahishmati, the monarch of Champavati, had four sons. Lumpaka, the oldest son, was the most immoral of them all. He once denigrated the gods, Vaishnavas, and Brahmanas. As a result, his father banished him. The banished Lumpaka spent his days in the bush, but at night he would slip into the kingdom and pilfer everything, including food. Because he was the king's son, the people would release him even though he had stolen. Throughout his life, Lumpaka frequently consumed raw fruits and meats.
This forest had a banyan tree. It was worthy of reverence just like the gods. For a while, Lumpaka resided beneath this tree. It so occurred that Lumpaka was living in this manner during the Ekadashi of the waning moon in November or December. Lumpaka lost consciousness the day before Ekadashi and came back to awareness at noon on the day of Ekadashi due to weariness and exhaustion.
Being so weak, Lumpaka was unable to kill any animals that day. He was really suffering from hunger. After a while, he discovered some fruits, which he offered to Lord Vishnu in exchange for his mercy. He spent the whole night of Ekadashi awake. Because he stayed up and fasted, he unintentionally observed Saphala Ekadashi.

The Lumpaka offered Lord Vishnu adoration and vows on this Ekadashi, which he accepted. Lumpaka was granted the reunification of his kingdom by Lord Vishnu. A celestial horse appeared and stood by Lumpaka the following morning. Further, a voice came from heaven, "Oh Prince, by the mercy of Lord Madhusudana and by the power of Saphala Ekadashi, you will get your kingdom and rule without any difficulty. Reunite with your father, then relish the kingdom.” Following these directives, Lumpaka went back to his father and took over the duties of the kingdom's ruler. After that, he had charming sons and a lovely wife.
