Shattila Ekadashi 2025: In Hinduism, Ekadashi fasting holds immense spiritual significance. Occurring every 11 days, Ekadashi is a sacred day dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Devotees observe a strict fast to purify their mind, body and soul. By observing Ekadashi, devotees demonstrate their devotion, self-discipline and commitment to their spiritual growth.

What To Eat On Ekadashi Vrat

- Fresh fruit preparations are permissible, offering a nutritious and healthy option for those observing Ekadashi fasting.

- All types of nuts and their derived oils are allowed, providing a valuable source of essential fatty acids and protein.

- Underground root vegetables, such as potatoes are acceptable.

- Pure sugar and milk are permitted during the Ekadashi Vrat.

- Pure salt, black pepper, fresh ginger and turmeric are approved spices for Ekadashi.

- Tapioca or sago is a permissible food option, provided it is not manufactured using rice flour or corn starch.

What Not To Eat On Ekadashi Vrat

- Abstain from consuming grains, cereals, pulses, and beans on Ekadashi, as part of the fasting ritual.

- Refrain from tamasic food options, including onion, garlic, alcohol, eggs and meat which are considered detrimental to spiritual growth.

- Although grains can be offered to Lord Vishnu as bhog, devotees must not consume them as Prasadam on Ekadashi, adhering to the strict observance of the vrat.

How To Break Your Ekadashi Vrat

To conclude your Ekadashi fast, break your fast after sunrise on the next day within the Parana Timings, following prayers and offerings to Lord Vishnu.
