Shradh 2024 Start Date: Pitru Paksha, or Shradh, is a 16-day Hindu ritual honouring ancestors and deceased family members. It begins on the full moon day of Bhadrapada and ends on Ashwin Krishna Paksha's Amavasya. During this period, Hindus pay tribute to their ancestors through offerings of food, water, and prayers. Shradh ceremonies ensure the peaceful journey of the deceased to the afterlife and bring solace to the living. Performing Pitru Paksha rituals is believed to alleviate ancestral debts, seek forgiveness for past mistakes, and ensure the well-being and prosperity of future generations. Shradh 2024: Significance Of Tarpan And Pind Daan During Pitru Paksha
During Pitru Paksha, Hindus perform Tarpan and Pind Daan to honour their ancestors, ensuring a serene passage to the afterlife. Tarpan involves offering water and sesame seeds to satiate the departed souls' thirst and hunger, while Pind Daan offers cooked rice and barley balls as sustenance. These rituals absolve ancestral karma, seeking forgiveness for past transgressions and facilitating liberation from worldly ties. By performing Tarpan and Pind Daan, devotees strengthen familial bonds, purify their minds and souls, and attain spiritual growth. This sacred ritual secures the ancestors' blessings, prosperity, and well-being for generations, fostering a deeper connection between the living and the departed, and promoting harmony within the family lineage.
