A total solar eclipse will take place on April 8, 2024. A solar eclipse, also known as Surya Grahan is just an astronomical phenomenon from a scientific perspective, but it is inauspicious from a religious one. Astrology suggests that during an eclipse, everything in our immediate environment is impacted. As per astrological beliefs, an eclipse has a negative effect on the environment. However, one can lessen the negative impacts of the Surya Grahan by chanting certain mantras for protection.
Reciting various mantras is believed to have positive effects and protect the wearer from potential adverse effects.

1. ।। नमः सूर्याय शान्ताय सर्वरोग निवारिणे
आयुररोग्य मैस्वैर्यं देहि देवः जगत्पते ।।
Namah Suryaya Shantaya Sarvaroga Nivaarine,
Ayurarogya Maisvairyam Dehi Devah Jagatpate
2. ।। ॐ ह्रां ह्रीं ह्रौं सः सूर्याय नमः ।।

3. ।। ॐ भास्कराय विद्महे महादुत्याथिकराया धीमहि तनमो आदित्य प्रचोदयात ।।

।। ॐ सप्त-तुरंगाय विद्महे सहस्र-किरणाय धीमहि तन्नो रविः प्रचोदयात् ।।
Om Sapt Turangay Vidhmahe Sahasra Kirnay Dheemahi Tanno Ravi Prachodayat
4. ।। आदित्यहृदयं पुण्यं सर्वशत्रुविनाशनम्
जयावहं जपं नित्यमक्षयं परमं शिवम् ।।
Aditya Hrudhaya Punyam Sarva Shatru Vinashanam
Jayaavaham Japenithyam Akshayam Paramam Shivam

Additional Mantras To Recite During Solar Eclipse
People can also recite the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, Shiv Panchakshari Mantra or Narasimha Kavach during the solar eclipse to guard themselves from the possible negative impacts of the Surya Grahan.
