According to the Panchangam, Subrahmanya Sashti falls on the Shukla Paksha Sashti tithi of the Margashirsha month. This occasion marks the victory of Lord Murugan over the demon Tarakasura. It is believed that fervently worshipping Lord Kartikeyan on this day and observing a vratam in his honour eradicates sins and helps receive his blessings for protection, success, safety and good health. Devotees also worship Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati on this sacred occasion, as they are the parents of Lord Murugan. Subrahmanya Sashti is a sacred occasion to manifest one’s prayers with the blessings of Shri Kartikeyan.
