A home is not merely walls and bricks – it is where dreams unfold, families rejoice and life is filled with good energies. However, even a beautiful home is sometimes unsettled, health is impacted, finances get stuck and tension mounts. Maybe this is because of Vastu Dosha, an imbalance of the space's energies. Vastu, the traditional Indian science of building design, assists in harmonising a house with forces of nature to usher peace, prosperity and health. Unbeknownst to them, most people commit minute Vastu errors that attract undesirable consequences. The small blunders can progressively cause severe issues, thus, it is necessary to practice Vastu principles attentively.

Gurudev Shrie Kashyap, the Chairman and Founder of All India Institute of Occult Science and True Vastu, rules out these errors and lists smart ways one can fix them below:

Top 5 Vastu Blunders Homebuyers Make

1. Main Door in the Wrong Direction

The main door is like your home's mouth which lets energy come in and spread everywhere in the home. If it's in the wrong direction, bad energy enters and causes negativity. The right direction for the main door should always be in the east or north direction. It brings good vibes, growth, and peace to the family. While South or South-West directions are considered bad for the main door as it leads to fights, stress, and health problems.

If Vastu is not right for the main door, you need to place a Vastu strip on the door frame. You can also add a mirror inside, opposite the door, but not directly facing it. Also, you can use symbols like Om or Swastika on the door.

2. Toilet in the North-East Corner

North-East is the holy part of the house and it is linked to water, peace, and wisdom. Having a toilet in the north-east corner blocks energy. But if you get an already built home having a toilet in this corner, you can fix the vastu dosh by keeping the bathroom clean and well-lit. People may also use sea salt in a bowl to absorb negativity. Sticking a Vastu pyramid or brass remedy on the door can help a lot to remove Vastu dosh.

3. Kitchen in the Wrong Spot

The kitchen should be in the southeast corner of your home. Having a kitchen in the wrong direction can cause hot tempers and health problems in life. The Chairman and Founder of All India Institute of Occult Science and True Vastu says the best place for the kitchen in the house is in the South-East (Agni Kon) direction. You must avoid placing the kitchen in the North or North-East corner of the house as it can affect family and women’s health.

If placed incorrectly in the house, you can use red or orange color in the kitchen walls to balance the energy. Also, keeping the stove in the South-East corner helps you a lot. But you need to avoid cooking facing South.

4. Staircase in the Middle of the House

The centre of your home is called Brahmasthan and it must stay empty and clean. A staircase here blocks energy flow which causes trouble. It can be fixed by placing a mirror near the staircase to reflect energy. Using a copper or brass pyramid to balance the space. The Chairman and Founder of All India Institute of Occult Science and True Vastu advises you to avoid keeping heavy items or furniture in the middle of the house.

5. Buying a Plot with Cut Corners

The shape of your land changes how energy flows. Plots with missing or extra corners disturb the harmony of the land, which leads to big troubles in the life of the person living there. The ideal and best shapes for the lands are either square or rectangular. Avoid irregular shapes or plots with a cut in the southwest direction.

It can be fixed using fencing or boundary walls to correct the shape of the land. Also, filling missing corners with plants or stones can help you correct the vastu of the house. Avoid building heavy rooms on missing sides.

Bonus Vastu Tips for Homebuyers

Always check Vastu before buying the house instead of waiting to move in. Choose homes that face East or North. Avoid homes near graveyards, hospitals, or power lines. Let light and fresh air into your house, and keep the centre of your home open and free.

If your house has Vastu dosh, don’t panic. The Chairman and Founder of All India Institute of Occult Science and True Vastu says Vastu is not about fear but balance. You can fix most of the Vastu problems using simple remedies. For example, spreading sea salt in corners can help, or mirrors and brass pyramids can help if put on the door. Also, paintings that show water or nature remove negative energy. Changing furniture placement also helps.
