Tripurmalini Shakti Peeth Story

Sati, the daughter of Prajapati Daksha went against her father's command and got married to Lord Shiva. But when Daksha conducted a grand yagya and insulted Sati and her husband, she could not tolerate the humiliation of her husband and jumped into the fire, killing herself. Lord Shiva was filled with rage and sorrow, which led to a chain of events ultimately resulting in Sati's corpse being torn apart and scattered on earth.

When Sati's limbs dropped onto the earth, Shakti Peethas were formed, and each was related to a particular part of the goddess. Lord Shiva created 51 Bhairavas to guard these places. Tripurmalini Shakti Peeth, where Sati's left breast dropped is such a place. Sati here is worshipped as Maa Tripurmalini and Lord Shiva as Bhishan. The temple is said to contain energies of Mata Vaishno Devi, Maa Lakshmi and Maa Saraswati.
