-  As to the legends, the Triyuginarayan Temple was built in the eighth century by the eminent Hindu philosopher and theologian Adi Shankaracharya. 

- One of the principal Hindu deities, Lord Vishnu is also worshipped at this temple. The name "Triyuginarayan" in Hindu mythology indicates that the temple existed during three distinct yugas (eras): the Satya, Treta, and Dwapara ages.

- The most well-known aspect of Triyuginarayan Temple is its association with the sacred union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to legend, Maa Parvati performed penance in Gaurikund to win the love of Lord Shiva, and they were wedded here at the Triyuginarayan temple.

- Lord Vishnu and other deities are claimed to have been the holy witnesses of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati's celestial wedding. The sacred fire that was started during their wedding ceremony is still burning in the temple's fire pit, which adds to the area's allure.

- The eternal flame known as Akhand Dhuni is present in the temple. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Parvati took seven rounds of this kund. Samidha, or wood sacrifices, are added to the flame by devotees, who then gather the ashes to get blessings. 

- The exact spot of the heavenly union is thought to be a stone known as the Brahma Shila, which is located in front of the temple. Other sacred locations close to the temple are the ponds of Saraswati Kund, Brahma Kund, Vishnu Kund, and Rudra Kund. The Saraswati Ganga water stream has its source in the temple courtyard.
