Tulsi Vivah 2023: The auspicious event Tulsi Vivah marks the solemn marriage ceremony of the sacred Tulsi plant also known as Vrinda Devi along with Lord Shaligram, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This auspicious day is celebrated during the auspicious Hindu month of Kartika also known as Kartik Maas. Prabodhini Ekadashi, the eleventh lunar day, marks the start of the Tulsi Marriage celebrations, which last until Kartik Poornima, the full moon night. The Hindu wedding season in India officially begins on this day.

While unmarried women conduct the Tulsi Vivah vrat and puja to find eligible partners, married women carry out the Tulsi Vivah Vrat and puja for the happiness of their marriage and the health of their spouse and children. However, there are certain do’s and don’ts that must be observed on this sacred day. 

Tulsi Vivah 2023: Do’s And Don’ts To Follow On Tulsi-Shaligram Vivah 

- Before starting the Tulsi Vivah rituals, the devotee must ensure to purify themselves by taking a bath and sprinkling some gangajal on his/her body. 

- Make sure to keep the Tulsi plant in a thoroughly clean setting and on an alleviated platform.  Avoid placing the tulsi plant right up against the floor.

- Ensure that the tulsi plant is placed either in the north or the northeast corner of the house. Additionally, make sure to not touch the sacred Tulsi Maharani with unclean hands.

- Before starting the rituals and beginning the Tulsi vivah puja, devotees must light a ghee diya in front of Tulsi Maharani. 

- If possible, wear a tulsi kanthi mala while performing the puja rituals. Apply turmeric paste on Vrinda Devi and Lord Shaligram. Make sure to offer flowers, and shringar samagri and other relevant offerings along with a red chunri to Tulsi Devi. 

- Avoid the use of plastic containers or vessels while performing the Tulsi vivah pujan.

- Worshippers should additionally abstain from consuming meat, fish, alcohol, onion and garlic on the sacred day of Tulsi-Shaligram vivah.
