Married women worship the holy Banyan tree, which has a special place in Hinduism, and the esteemed pair of Savitri and Satyavan on Vat Purnima Vrat. The tree's roots, stem, and upper portions are thought to symbolise the three main gods: Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. Devotees can achieve spiritual growth and fulfil their desires by carrying out rituals beneath this tree.

Devotees worship the idols of Yamraj and Savitri-Satyavan with fruits, vermilion, saffron and incense on the festival day of Jyeshtha, which falls on a full moon. Married women observe this holy vrat to honour womanhood, strengthen their marriages, and promote the welfare of their husbands and kids.

Vat Savitri Purnima Vrat 2025: Rituals

Married women pray for a happy and fulfilling married life and observe a sacred fast for their husbands' longevity and prosperity on Vat Purnima Vrat. They take a ceremonial bath in the morning, apply a paste made of sesame and Indian gooseberry, and dress and decorate themselves in traditional garb.

In order to obtain blessings for their husband's long life, the women fervently worship the goddess Savitri and the sacred banyan tree, tying a yellow or red thread around it 108 times and pouring water on its roots. They listen to the tale of Savitri and Satyavan while serving prasad, which consists of rice, fruits and pulses.
