Ancy Sojan Edappilly won the silver medal for India in the women's long jump event in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou on Monday. She made a podium finish with the personnel best jump of 6.63m.
In the same event, compatriot Shaili Singh finished fifth with her best effort of 6.48m. China's Shiqi Xiong claimed the gold with 6.73m jump while Vietnam's Nga Yan Yue won the bronze with a best effort of 6.50 metres.
In the third attempt, Ancy registered her personal best of 6.56m which she bettered in her fifth attempt.

India added another silver medal from track and field as 4x400m mixed relay team clinched silver with the timing of 3:14.34. The quartet of Muhammed Ajmal, Vithya Ramraj, Rajesh Ramesh and Subha Venkatesh finished third behind Bahrain and Sri Lanka but the second-placed Sri Lanka were disqualified and India's bronze got upgraded to silver.

With three silver and four bronze won on the day, India's medal tally reached 60 in the ongoing Asian Games 2023. India are placed fourth in the standings with 13 gold, 24 silver and 23 bronze.
