Indian archers made history at the Asian Games by securing a remarkable nine medals, surpassing their previous best performance at the Incheon 2014 Games where they won three medals.
Reigning world champion Aditi Swami began the day by securing a bronze medal in a one-sided match against Indonesia's Ratih Zilizati Fadhly. Despite dropping four points, Aditi won the match 146-140, securing India's ninth archery medal at the Games.
Later in the day, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, who had already won gold in the mixed pair and women's team events, clinched her third gold medal by defeating her formidable South Korean opponent So Chaewon with a score of 149-145.

The focus was on Jyothi as she came back from a point deficit to overcome. So she started with two scores of 10s and a nine while the Korean shot three 10s in the first round (called as Ebd in archery and comprises three arries shot by each archer).
But in the second end, the Korean shot an eight besides two 10s for a score of 28 while Jyothi scored 30 to take 59-58 lead.
The Indian shot three perfect rounds of 30 in each of the three rounds while her Korean opponent could manage three 29s, thus securing the gold for India.
In a contest between master and apprentice, 21-year-old reigning world champion Ojas Deotale emerged victorious, defeating the 34-year-old opponent from South Korea with a score of 149-147.
This was his third gold medal in this edition of the Asian Games, making him the joint most successful Indian sportsperson in this Asian Games.
Deotale had earlier won gold medals in Compound Men's Team and Compound Mixed Team competitions.
