FA Cup fourth-round clash lived up to its hype as Nathan Ake's late goal secured Manchester City's passage to the fifth round, breaking their goal drought at Tottenham's new stadium. The FA Cup holders, frustrated throughout the match, finally found the net in the 88th minute, registering their first win at Spurs' new ground after five attempts.

City's early efforts were marred by an offside call that ruled out Oscar Bobb's goal after a VAR check supported the linesman's decision. Despite dominating the first half, with Phil Foden's near-post cross going wide, City faced resilience from the Spurs defence.

The second half saw City intensify their attacks, with Rodrigo Bentancur's pass setting up Bobb's cross for Julian Alvarez, but an excellent defensive block denied City a breakthrough. Tottenham's Werner orchestrated an opportunity for Brennan Johnson, but City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega made a crucial save.

As the match unfolded, substitutions were made on both sides, with De Bruyne and Doku joining City, and Maddison making a return for Spurs. However, City's pressure grew, and several chances ensued, including a miss from Bernardo and a wide shot from De Bruyne.

The decisive moment came in the 88th minute when a corner from De Bruyne created chaos in the Spurs' box. Ake capitalised on the scramble, tapping the ball home to secure City's victory. Spurs contested the goal, claiming a foul by Ruben Dias on Guglielmo Vicario in the build-up, but VAR upheld the decision.

City once again kept their best play for the last, following Oscar Bobb's late winner against Newcastle on January 13. Meanwhile, Spurs, managing only one shot throughout the game, saw their last realistic chance of silverware in Ange Postecoglou's first season slip away.
