IND vs SGP, AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers live: The Indian football team is all set to be in action as they take on Singapore in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers final-round game on Thursday, October 9. The fixture will take place at the National Stadium in Singapore.

Both teams will battle it out in a back-to-back tie with the second fixture scheduled to be played on October 14. The return fixture will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa. India will be heading into the qualifiers on the back of a bronze-medal finish at the CAFA Nations Cup last month, their maiden appearance in the tournament.

The Blue Tigers got the better of higher-ranked teams like Oman and Tajikistan. The tournament also marked Khalid Jamil’s debut as India’s national team coach.

All eyes will be on Sunil Chhetri, who has made his return to the national team ahead of the first tie. Notably, Chhetri is the fourth-highest goal scorer in international football. He had retired from national duties last year but reversed his decision to help India’s qualification bid for the AFC Asian Cup. He was not part of India’s squad at the CAFA Cup.

After picking up just one point from their first two matches, a 0-0 draw against Bangladesh and a 0-1 defeat to Hong Kong, China, India will need to come up with an improved effort in the double-header against Singapore in order to keep their qualification hopes alive.
