India vs Bangladesh Football Match Result: India football has been going through a tough period, and their match against Bangladesh in the AFC Asian Cup qualifier witnessed more embarrassment as they suffered a shocking 0-1 defeat on Tuesday. Bangladesh produced a remarkable effort, especially in defence, to register their first win of the qualifying campaign.

Sheikh Morsalin scored the all-important goal for Bangladesh in the 11th minute. The match, though, was a dead rubber contest as both sides were out of contention for the 2027 continental showpiece. The Blue Tigers got a crucial chance in the 31st minute, but Lallianzuala Chhangte's right-footed shot from the top of the box after Bangladesh goalkeeper Mitul Marma was completely out of position was headed away by Hamza Choudhury.

India's last defeat against Bangladesh had come during the 2003 SAFF Gold Cup, where the latter had prevailed 2-1 at the same venue in Dhaka. Ahead of Tuesday's contest, both teams had faced each other in nine matches, with India winning three times while six were drawn affairs.

India's campaign for the 2027 Asian Cup ended on October 14, when they gave away a 1-0 lead to lose 1-2 to Singapore in Margao, Goa. They stay at the bottom of the four-team table with just two points from five matches. This was their third loss in the third round of the qualifiers. The other two matches were drawn affairs.

India are currently ranked 136th in the FIFA chart while Bangladesh are at 183rd. Fans on social media bashed the Indian team and also criticised head coach Khalid Jamil for not including younger players from the start.

On the other hand, fans and ex-players also took aim at AIFF chief Kalyan Chaubey, as the ongoing turmoil regarding the ISL has played a significant role, with many players finding themselves without adequate practice before the qualifiers.

"Nothing can be more worse than this indian football is keep getting down day by day, don't know when the administration will see through our eyes," a fan wrote on X.

It is to be noted that the match on Tuesday did not feature Australia-born forward Ryan Williams, who recently obtained an Indian passport. He had travelled with the team as part of the 23 players. He has received the NOC from Football Australia but is yet to get clearance from FIFA for registration.
