Lionel Messi achieved a major success once again in his stellar career as he helped Inter Miami CF win their maiden MLS Cup title with a remarkable 3-1 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps in the final. Messi came up with another impactful effort with two assists.
On the back of his impressive form throughout the season, Messi ended up lifting the most significant club trophy in the American domestic football system.
"Three years ago, I decided to come to MLS, and today we are MLS champions," Messi said in a quote distributed by MLS. "We reached the semifinals of the (CONCACAF) Champions Cup. Last year, we went out early in the league and were eliminated in the first round. This year, winning MLS was one of our main objectives."

"The team made a huge effort — it was a very long year, with many matches — and we were up to the task all season," Messi said. "This is the moment I had been waiting for, and that we, as a team, were waiting for. It’s very beautiful for all of us. They deserved it."

Messi's sharpness and quick feet helped Inter Miami take an early lead as Edier Ocampo scored an own goal in the 8th minute. Rodrigo de Paul and Tadeo Allende scored the other goals, whereas Ali Ahmed scored the only goal for the Whitecaps. Notably, this was Messi's third trophy with Inter Miami, having joined them a few years ago. The veteran star remains the most decorated player in football history with 48th career trophies, including 44 senior professional trophies
Most of Messi's silverware came during his iconic spell with FC Barcelona, where he lifted an astonishing 34 trophies, including 10 La Liga titles, 7 Copa del Rey trophies, and 4 UEFA Champions League triumphs. Miami’s first Major League Soccer crown was a significant achievement for co-owner David Beckham, who looked emotional while hugging the club captain Lionel Messi. Messi was instrumental this season, scoring 35 goals and assisting 24 of them as he topped both lists in the tournament.
