"There's a lot of emotion. We are a great football club but we want to win football matches. The supporters make a lot of effort and pay a lot of money to watch us play," he told TNT Sports.
The support from the away end offered some encouragement amid United's difficult run. However, Carrick admitted that the players must repay the fans' loyalty with better performances and results.
Carrick Refuses To Blame Lisandro Martinez
The defeat at Stamford Bridge became more difficult for United after Lisandro Martinez was sent off in the second half. The defender received a second yellow card after conceding a penalty, which Cole Palmer converted to put Chelsea further ahead.
Asked whether Martinez had let him down, Carrick refused to single out the defender, replying simply: "No."
United had started the match positively and created opportunities in the first half, but their performance got worse after the break. Chelsea took advantage of the numerical superiority to secure all three points.
Roma Clash Could Be Crucial For Manchester United
United's immediate focus now turns to Tuesday's Champions League clash with Roma at Old Trafford. The fixture offers Carrick and his players an opportunity to respond, although the pressure is mounting after nine consecutive matches without a win.
The club's away form has also become a major concern, with United failing to win any of their first seven away matches in all competitions this season. Their next Premier League assignment is against Aston Villa on November 8, before a trip to Liverpool later in the month.
With pressure mounting every matchday, the upcoming fixtures could prove decisive in determining Carrick's long-term future at Old Trafford.
