Indian shooter Anantjeet Singh Naruka failed to qualify for the final in the men's skeet event following a finish outside the top 6 in the qualification round on Saturday.

Naruka finished in 24th position with 116 points in five rounds at the Chateauroux, but it was insufficient to advance him to the final in his Olympic debut.

Only the top six shooters will compete in the men's skeet final later today.

India have won seven medals in shooting at the Olympics. However, Indian shooters have failed to clinch a medal in the skeet event at the Summer Games.

India's Maheshwari Chauhan is ranked eighth following the first day of the women's skeet qualification event for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The 28-year-old Indian shooter scored 71 (23, 24, 24) in the first three rounds, keeping her in contention for a top six position in the qualifying round. The top six shooters from tomorrow's five rounds will advance to the final.

Maheshwari, the reigning Asian Championships bronze medalist, is now the highest-ranked Indian skeet shooter in the French capital.

Raiza Dhillon, on the other hand, is now ranked 25th after scoring 66 (21, 22, 23) over the first three rounds.
