Wimbledon 2025: World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka's woeful form during the Wimbledon semifinals continued, as Amanda Anisimova, who is seeded 13th, has qualified for the summit clash of the ongoing Grand Slam for the first time. The youngster, who first qualified for a Grand Slam semifinal way back in the 2019 French Open, won the match in just two hours and 37 minutes by 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 on the Center court.

As far as Sabalenka is concerned, this was her third semifinal exit in the ongoing Grand Slam. In 2021, she lost to Karolina Pliskova, and then in 2023, Ons Jabeur defeated her. This happened in 2025 as well, when Anisimova defeated her. After winning this match, she has also improved her head-to-head record against Sabalenka by 6-3 and has also qualified for her first Grand Slam summit clash.

Anisimova became the youngest American woman to have qualified for the Wimbledon singles summit clash after Serena Williams way back in 2004. Serena was defeated by Maria Sharapova and now Anisimova is on the verge of scripting history.

Anisimova puts pressure on Sabalenka

During the first set, Sabalenka had four opportunities to break Anisimova's serve during the ninth game but couldn't convert them. That helped Anisimova a lot as she got her first break. She was playing her first serves and had won 82 percent of those points which was way better than Sabalenka's 65 percent.

But Sabalenka bounced back brilliantly as she had won the second set and forced the match towards a decider and was on the verge of repeating her heroics from her quarterfinal performance. It was Sabalenka, who dominated the first serve, as she had won 84 percent of those points.

Even though she had missed four set points on Anisimova's serve, Sabalenka was able to close out by holding her nerve.

Anisinova topples Sabalenka

During the third set, Sabalenka was on the verge of dominating the match as she had got an early break. But Anisimova bounced back brilliantly as she got her break point and then was leading by 4-1.

Initially, during the set, Sabalenka had scored two break points at 40-15 during the fourth game but couldn't take advantage as Anisimova was dominant.

When Anisimova had served for the match, Sabalenka got an important break and was able to save a match point.

During the 10th game of the last set, Anisimova scored three match points at 40-15. Sabalenka was able to save two but Anisimova converted the third and thus began celebrating as she had won the match.

Anisimova will either lock horns with Iga Swiatek or Belinda Bencic during the summit clash.
