After months of questions around console performance, IO Interactive has now officially confirmed that 007 First Light will support 60fps gameplay on PS5. The studio shared the update on Monday alongside fresh gameplay footage captured directly from the PS5 Pro version of the game.
The newly released clip showcased an action-heavy shootout sequence running smoothly at 60fps on Sony’s upgraded console. That immediately caught attention online because earlier gameplay footage from last year had sparked criticism over choppy framerates and inconsistent performance. Back then, many fans were worried the game was struggling technically ahead of launch.
PS5 Players Will Get Performance And Quality Modes
IO Interactive has confirmed that even the standard PS5 version will support 60fps gameplay through a dedicated performance mode. Players who prefer better visuals over higher framerates will also get a separate 30fps quality mode.

The developer, however, has not yet revealed deeper technical details such as resolution targets, ray tracing support, or whether the PS5 Pro version will use Sony’s PSSR upscaling technology. Those details are expected closer to launch.
While the studio has not directly confirmed Xbox performance settings yet, the Xbox Series X version is expected to offer a similar experience to the base PS5. There is still no clarity on whether the Xbox Series S version will also hit 60fps.
Delay May Have Helped Improve Performance
Concerns around the game’s optimisation first started surfacing in September 2025 after IO Interactive revealed extended gameplay footage. Many viewers pointed out unstable framerates and rough visual performance during combat sequences.
Since then, it looks like the studio has spent additional time polishing the experience. Interestingly, 007 First Light was originally scheduled to release on March 27 before getting delayed by two months. IO Interactive had said the delay was meant to ensure the game launched at the quality level players expected, and it now appears that extra development time may have helped improve console performance.
Switch 2 Version Delayed
007 First Light is now set to launch on May 27 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. The Nintendo Switch 2 version, however, has been pushed to later this summer.
The game has also been in headlines recently for another reason. Last month, major story spoilers, gameplay footage, and even the apparent ending leaked online after a reported security issue linked to the Indonesian ratings board. The leak included over an hour of content from the game, raising concerns among fans hoping to avoid spoilers before launch.
