Aadhaar has become the default identity proof among Indian citizens, be it for banking, SIM authentication, or government services. Hitherto, downloading it required a visit to the UIDAI website or the DigiLocker app. The government has now thrown in another alternative—WhatsApp. By incorporating Aadhaar downloads through the MyGov Helpdesk chatbot, the process has now become quicker and much more convenient for millions of users.
How the WhatsApp Service Works
Rather than having to manipulate several apps, citizens can now receive Aadhaar and other DigiLocker-linked documents directly on their WhatsApp. It reduces the number of steps and has an interface that most Indians already use daily.

To begin, you will require three things:
- A mobile number that is associated with Aadhaar
- An active account in DigiLocker
- The MyGov Helpdesk WhatsApp number is bookmarked: +91-9013151515.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Bookmark the MyGov Helpdesk number in your contacts.
2. Open WhatsApp and send a friendly "Hi" or "Namaste".
3. Select DigiLocker services among the options provided.
4. Log in to your DigiLocker account and provide your Aadhaar number.
5. Authenticate yourself through the OTP received on your registered phone number.
6. Pick Aadhaar from the options of documents available.
7. The chatbot will share your Aadhaar card in PDF format directly on WhatsApp.
