Google’s Nano Banana AI engine has quickly captured attention on social media, with users enjoying everything from 3D figurines to ultra-detailed 4K portraits. Now, Adobe has joined the trend by integrating the Gemini 2.5 Flash (Nano Banana) engine into Photoshop, marking the first time third-party AI models have been officially added to the app.
Alongside Nano Banana, Adobe is also introducing Black Forest Labs’ Flux.1 Kontext Pro, giving users more flexibility for AI-generated content without leaving Photoshop. This move follows other app integrations, such as Nano Banana being made available on WhatsApp via the Perplexity chatbot.
Generative Fill Made Smarter
Users can select the Nano Banana engine when using Photoshop’s generative fill feature, enabling AI-assisted image creation directly within the app. Adobe highlights that this integration also allows for easier corrections, as AI-generated images can sometimes contain errors.
"What makes this integration into Photoshop especially powerful is how it combines choice in models with Photoshop’s professional-grade tools, giving you the ability to generate content, then immediately refine it with Photoshop’s precision and control,” said Adobe VP Deepa Subramaniam on the company’s website.
Essentially, users can unleash their creativity with Nano Banana and make adjustments seamlessly, all without leaving Photoshop. Adobe’s own Firefly image models remain available, with generative fill continuing to be one of the app’s most popular tools.
Access and Limits
Adobe is offering unlimited access to Nano Banana and Flux.1 Kontext Pro on Photoshop until October 28. After that, standard Creative Cloud subscribers—including Photography and Photoshop single app plans—will receive 100 lifetime credits per model, while Creative Cloud Pro subscribers will get 500 credits per day. Currently, Nano Banana is limited to the generative fill feature.
Privacy and Commercial Use
Adobe confirms that user content is not used to train AI models, regardless of the model chosen. However, the company does not clarify commercial usage rights for images generated with Nano Banana. It states: “It is the responsibility of the creator to decide whether partner models are appropriate for their projects, taking into consideration factors such as the focus of the model, how it was trained, and whether or not it is safe for commercial use.”
