Adobe has announced a wave of new enhancements for its Firefly video model, aiming to improve video generation with smoother motion and advanced creative controls. Alongside these upgrades, the company is integrating four new third-party AI models into Firefly Boards, expanding the platform’s capabilities for professional creators.

These updates, revealed via Adobe’s official blog, are exclusive to paid subscribers, with some features initially rolling out on the web app.

What’s New in Adobe Firefly Video Model

Adobe Firefly already generates videos with realistic, physics-based motion, but the latest upgrades take it further:

  • Enhanced motion generation for natural and fluid transitions.
  • Improved fidelity for 2D and 3D content, such as floating bubbles, rustling leaves, and drifting clouds.

These improvements aim to bring AI-generated videos closer to cinematic quality, helping creators achieve professional results more quickly. New Video Controls for Creative Flexibility

New Video Controls for Creative Flexibility

Adobe is introducing advanced tools designed to simplify video prompting and editing:

  • Firefly will attempt to imitate the style and composition of any video uploaded as closely as possible.
  • Firefly's Style Preset tool: Creators can select various styles such as claymation, anime, 2D art or line art that they want Firefly to apply when creating videos.
  • Keyframe Cropping: Upload the first and last frames of a video, and Firefly will generate content which fits its format and aspect ratio.

Third-Party AI Models Coming to Firefly Boards

Adobe is adding Topaz Labs’ Image and Video Upscalers and Moonvalley’s Marey to Firefly Boards.

  • Luma AI’s Ray 2 and Pika 2.2 AI models, which currently generate images, will soon gain video-generation capabilities.
  • These integrations will give creators higher-quality visuals and more AI tools to elevate their content.

Generate Sound Effects and Text-to-Avatar

Adobe is also testing a beta tool for sound generation, called Generate Sound Effects.

  • Users can create custom audio using text or voice prompts.
  • Firefly syncs the intensity and rhythm of sounds to match the energy of a voice recording.

Another highlight is Text-to-Avatar, a feature that converts scripts into avatar-led videos. Users can:

  • Select avatars from Adobe’s pre-designed library.
  • Customise backgrounds and accents for the generated voiceover.

Final Thoughts

Adobe Firefly’s latest upgrades position it as one of the most powerful AI-driven video tools for creators. With smoother motion, intuitive video controls, and integrations like Topaz Labs and Moonvalley Marey, Adobe is pushing Firefly to become a go-to platform for professionals in both video and audio generation. The addition of text-to-avatar and sound effects tools only strengthens its creative suite.
