Airtel Prepaid Recharge Plans: At the start of 2025, Airtel made some significant updates to two of its popular prepaid recharge plans, likely in response to a recent mandate from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The revisions primarily focus on voice and SMS benefits, while scaling back on data offerings.

The first plan, priced at Rs 509, has been revamped but remains valid for 84 days. It is now tailored for users who rely heavily on voice calls and SMS, with no data included. The plan offers unlimited voice calls and 900 SMS, but the 6GB of data that was previously part of the pack has been removed.

Additionally, users still enjoy perks like free access to the Airtel Xstream app, Apollo 24/7 Circle membership, and Hello Tunes. For those who need some data, Airtel's Rs 569 prepaid plan might be a better option, as it offers 6GB of data along with the same voice and SMS benefits.

The second plan under revision is the Rs 1,999 annual pack. While it continues to provide unlimited voice calls and 3,000 SMS, the 24GB of mobile data that was previously included has been eliminated. However, subscribers still have access to extra services like the Airtel Xstream app, Apollo 24/7 Circle membership, and Hello Tunes.

These changes come in response to TRAI's new directive that requires telecom operators to offer Special Tariff Vouchers (STVs) primarily focused on voice and SMS services. As a result, these updated Airtel plans now offer robust voice and SMS benefits, but users who need more data will have to purchase additional packs. The cost for SMS beyond the free allowance is Rs 1 for local messages and Rs 1.5 for STD messages.
