GOOGLE has released the third iteration of Android 14 Beta. This is among the last build (with the final beta build slated for July), after which the new Android will go public for users. The Android maker has highlighted Beta 3 as a tuned-up setup building on its commitment to security, performance, customisation, privacy and more.

The new Android features sport non-linear font scaling, partial photos/videos access, animation in gestures and more. Google has urged developers to start "final compatibility testing" and prepare to make necessary changes to further attain feedback during the testing phase to ensure a smooth transition to the final build. Here are the new user-centric features bundled with the beta build.

Non-linear Font Scaling

Up to 200 per cent font scaling is supported in Android 14 by default to enable low-vision users with better accessibility. Developers are requested to test their app with the new functionality to ensure a larger font size does not impact usability.

Partial Access To Photos/Videos

In Beta 3, users can allow partial access to their photos and videos whenever an app requests these permissions. Once the app is running in the background or a user closes it, the system treats access as "one-time permissions" and revokes access.

Other than these, "Android 14 introduces foreground service types for health and remote messaging use cases," the company said in the Android Developers Blog.

Android 14 Beta 3 Supported Devices

These Pixel phones are among the eligible handsets to try the Android 14 Beta 3 release for developers:

- Pixel 4a (5G)

- Pixel 5a, 5

- Pixel 6a, 6, 6 Pro

- Pixel 7a, 7, 7 Pro

Users already enrolled in the beta build will get the update automatically over the air (OTA). As Android 14 is heading towards platform stability, we should expect the final update to roll out after July, probably in August.

Meanwhile, the company announced the availability of new Android on select OnePlus, iQOO, Nothing, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo and Xiaomi Phones. You can check more about this here.
