Google is expected to announce Android 15's stable version alongside the launch of the Pixel 9 series next month. Weeks before launch, the tech giant released the Android 15 Beta 4 update via its beta program. Catering to developers, the company noted apps ready for Android 15 can now be listed on the Google Play Store. After the Beta 4 update, the platform is expected to reach stability after July.
According to the Android Developers Blog, the new features include predictive back animations. Plus, other tweaks include Low Light Boost, a new auto-exposure mode in the camera. Apps can now detect when it is being recorded. Plus, the enhancement includes partial screen sharing to record an app window and not the entire screen. Private space support is also expected to be a part of Android 15.
Android 15 also brings an edge-to-edge interface by default. According to 9To5Google, the update brings Device diagnosis features with options like Display test, Touch test, Battery test, Storage Status, Component health, Evaluation mode, Trusted device and Evaluated device. Plus, a range of bug fixes and improvements are a part of the update.
A host of Google Pixel devices are eligible to install the beta update. The devices include the Google Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8a. As for other tweaks In Android 15, the company said the update "removes the legacy PNG-based emoji font file (NotoColorEmojiLegacy.ttf)".
Meanwhile, Pixel 9 series devices are expected to launch in India as the first phones to boot on Android 15 out-of-the-box. The lineup may include Google Pixel 9, Google Pixel 9 Pro, Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Apart from the new Android, the update could bring Gemini AI-powered features.
