Apple AirPods: Apple is reportedly gearing up to introduce a live-translation feature for AirPods, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Expected to debut alongside iOS 19 later this year, this update could make AirPods a game-changer for multilingual conversations.

How AirPods' Live-Translation Will Work

The new feature will enable seamless real-time translation during in-person conversations. For instance, if someone speaks Spanish, the AirPods will deliver an English translation directly into the listener’s ears. The listener's response will then be translated into Spanish and played aloud through the iPhone’s speakers.

This marks Apple’s attempt to catch up with Google in this space. Google introduced live-translation with the first-gen Pixel Buds in 2017 and later refined it with the Pixel Buds Pro in 2022, setting a high bar for real-time translation tech.

Apple Expanding AirPods' Capabilities

Apple has been steadily upgrading AirPods with new features. Last year, iOS 18 brought advanced hearing health tools to the second-gen AirPods Pro. The upcoming update aims to push their functionality even further, making them more than just premium wireless earbuds.

Expected Release & Compatibility

It’s unclear if this translation feature will be limited to the latest AirPods Pro or available on older models. More details are expected at WWDC 2025 in June, where Apple will likely unveil iOS 19 and showcase its latest innovations.
