The iPhone 17 series has already been launched, and, as expected, it's flying off the shelves in India. But if the social media grapevine is to be believed, Apple is just getting started. Rumour suggests that the company is working on a budget phone, the rumoured iPhone 17e. Apple has said nothing about it officially, but leaks and speculation have already given us a pretty good idea of what to expect.

When Can the iPhone 17e Come Out?

The launch timeline is still under wraps, but most reports point towards an early 2026 release, possibly as soon as February. If that pans out, it would be one of the earliest iPhone launches of the year. As for pricing, the iPhone 17e is expected to cost around ₹64,900 in India. Of course, these are still leaks, so we’ll need to wait for Apple’s confirmation before treating them as final.

What of the Design?

If you’ve seen the iPhone 17, you’ll probably have a sense of déjà vu with the 17e. Leaks suggest it will carry the same design language and colour options as the flagship series, but with a slightly more toned-down approach. Compared to the older iPhone 16e, the 17e is rumoured to look and feel a little more premium while still keeping its compact and easy-to-handle form factor intact.

The Rumored Features

The iPhone 17e is said to feature a 6.1-inch Super Retina OLED display. One piece of information still in limbo is if Apple will launch the 120 Hz refresh rate of the flagship iPhone 17 series or save it for the flagship models alone. It could be powered by the A19 chip, with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Battery life would also see an improvement, rumored to feature a 4,000mAh battery and wireless charging capabilities. On the camera front, the 17e would probably follow minimalist standards with a single 48MP primary rear camera that features Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) to capture improved shots and an 18MP front camera to handle selfies and video calls.
