Apple, a Cupertino-based tech giant, was reportedly set to launch the latest iPads this month or in April. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has now shifted his latest speculations to May. According to Gurman, the overseas suppliers have boosted production of the 2024 iPad models, and they may finally arrive after April.
The initial plans were reportedly to introduce the latest iPads by the end of March or early April. Bloomberg reported the tech giant is working to finalise the software for the launch of these models. The upcoming Apple iPad Pro is expected to run on the latest M3 chipset. A redesigned Magic Keyboard and a new Apple Pencil may tag along with the offering.
On the other hand, the iPad Air will likely draw power from an M2 chip and a 12.9-inch screen, Gurman noted. It may also arrive in a standard 10.9-inch display trim. Based on the report, the complex manufacturing process is among the reasons that have led to the delay. Due to this, the timeline has now moved to "early May".

With the move, Apple could finally upgrade the iPad models roughly after 18 months. Meanwhile, reports suggest that the upcoming models could arrive with a front-facing camera placed in a landscape mode that could also influence the functioning of the Face ID because of the orientation. However, readers must note that Apple has not shared any details about the new iPad. Hence, they must note the information with a grain of salt.
Meanwhile, the company has already confirmed the dates of its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024. The event will kick off on June 10 and conclude on June 14. Apple may introduce a host of AI-powered updates for the models at the annual tech conference. The much-rumoured iOS 18 could get a chat assistant and other features aided by AI.
