iOS 17.5 and iPad OS 17.5 Bug: Soon after a bug in the latest iOS version that restored photos for some users made headlines, a new report highlighted another major revelation about the update. According to MacRumors, the update can impact an iPhone or iPad even if the photos were erased or the device was sold to other customers. A Reddit user posted the experience where these photos reappeared in the Photos app.

According to the user's post, some photos reappeared even after wiping data from the iPad Pro. The user reportedly followed the company's guidelines in September while erasing the data before selling the device. After the new iPad user updated to the iPadOS 17.5 version, some photos reappeared on the iPad, the user noted.

"I wiped the iPad using official Apple guides before selling. I never logged into that iPad with my Apple ID after erasing the iPad. I sold my iPad to a friend in September 2023, they called me today after updating to iPadOS 17.5 and said my old pictures appeared in their Photos app," the user said.

"HUGE PRIVACY VIOLATION. I see other reports of this. How many people will get other people's photos on the devices they bought from other people?" the account added. As per the report, the issue affected the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (4th generation) updated to the latest version and sold by the owner to a friend.

In this case, the photos date back to 2017, when they were shot on an iPhone and synced to the device via the iCloud Photo Library. This update comes after many users reported their deleted photos started surfacing again on their devices after updating the iPhone. However, those reports were limited to people who owned the devices and logged into iCloud Photo Libraries and the Apple ID.

A user claimed some of their NSFW images deleted back in 2021 reappeared. This change is reportedly not affecting all photos and all devices.
