Apple introduced the iPhone 15 series on September 12, which is now available for purchase across online and offline channels. Besides the new gadgets portfolio, the tech giant also introduced a new material for the bands of the Apple Watch and iPhone 15 cases. Apple glorified this as a leather alternative that offers a soft feel with a subtle lustre for a "suede-like" experience.
While the company had high hopes from the case in its carbon-neutral endeavour, customers and tech reviewers are not on the same page with respect to the new FineWoven fabric that attracts smudges and scratches. Bloomberg goes on to label that it might turn into the "biggest misfires" of the California-based tech giant this year.
According to Apple, the case is made from "68 per cent post-consumer recycled content" to reduce carbon emissions and let leather retire from its accessories. In the product description, the company added: "The FineWoven material may show wear over time. Interaction with MagSafe accessories will leave slight imprints."

Apple recommends that users should prefer a Silicone or Clear case if they are concerned about this. And it seems the company lags when it comes to advertising this warning. Several users shared their first-hand experiences with the case, and it is not on the positive lines. According to the news organisation, blogger Federico Viticci shared he noticed a stain on the case after dinner.
YouTube channel MobileReviewsEh shared the vulnerability of the accessory to scratches. Another blogger (512 pixels) posted that some of the units are not well-aligned with the holes of the iPhone. An associate reviewer of The Verge says: "FineWoven is very bad."

The report said that one wrong move can scratch the case in a blink. In India, the FineWoven cases cost Rs 5,900 on the Apple's website. Considering the initial impressions, it seems Apple has a massive task of damage control on its head concerning its leather replacement.
