Apple's iPhone 16 series is a highly anticipated smartphone range, following the announcement of a number of AI-powered features at WWDC 2024. The iPhone 16 launch is only a few months away and has already been subject to leaks. According to Nicolas Alvarez's newest discovery in the codes, which was validated by MacRumors, the iPhone 16 series debut has been confirmed, and all four models will use the same chipset to perform Apple Intelligence capabilities.

The codes include the following iPhone identifiers including.

iPhone17,1
iPhone17,2
iPhone17,3
iPhone17,4
iPhone17,5

iPhone 16 Leaks: Apple May Simplify Battery Replacement On Upcoming iPhones; All You Need To Know

According to the report, a single chip will power all of the new models because they are all 17-digit models. Given that the iPhone 15 series was coded with various numbers, this will be a huge boost.

iPhone 15: iPhone 15,4 (A16 Bionic chip)
iPhone 15 Plus: iPhone 15,5 (A16 Bionic chip)
iPhone 15 Pro: iPhone 16,1 (A17 Pro chip)
iPhone 15 Pro Max: iPhone 16,2 (A17 Pro chip)

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are powered by the A16 Bionic processor, which is denoted as '15x', but both Pro models are powered by the A17 Pro chipset, denoted as '16x'. If Apple continues this trend, all iPhone 16 models will be powered by the A18 Bionic chipset.

The report also speculates that Apple may offer the A18 and A18 Pro chipsets to differentiate. The iPhone 16 vanilla trims will have fewer GPU cores, whilst the Pro variations may have more powerful GPUs, it claimed. Interestingly, the new codes hint at five variants, implying that the iPhone SE would be released with the same chipset.

This could be because the company wants to preserve continuity, as Apple Intelligence features are slated to appear with iOS 18. This means that iPhones will need powerful chipsets. Currently, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be able to employ Apple Intelligence features, and Apple may decide to increase the capabilities with new chips.
