iPhone 17 Air: Tipster Majin Bu claims the new Air model will include a “compact and refined design” battery, rated at 2,900 mAh. While that might sound like a step down in capacity compared to other models, the leak points out that it’s “a choice aimed at achieving a slimmer profile, consistent with Apple’s Air aesthetic.”
In terms of structure, Apple is said to be sticking with a steel battery case, just like the one expected on the iPhone 16 Pro. This case not only helps with heat dissipation but also boosts battery density. Images shared by Bu show an L-shaped design, made to fit the iPhone 17 Air’s reduced logic board.
Apple also seems to be working on repairability. The iPhone 17 Air may feature new battery adhesives, something the rest of the iPhone 17 series is also expected to get. This small tweak could make future battery replacements much simpler.
On the hardware side, analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International believes the iPhone 17 Air will sport an aluminium body, making it even lighter than the titanium Pro models. It’s expected to carry a 6.6-inch display, and under the hood, Apple may use a 3 nm A19 chipset—likely a variant of the A18 Pro found in the iPhone 16 Pro series—paired with 8 GB of RAM.
Camera-wise, the back may feature a single 48MP sensor, while the front is tipped to house a 24MP selfie camera, complete with Face ID support. Pu also hinted that the phone will debut a completely new design, and yes, it’s expected to support Apple Intelligence features right out of the box.

On the software side, the iPhone 17 Air will run iOS 26, bundled with Apple’s new Liquid Glass Interface—another sign that Apple is doubling down on both design and functionality this year.
