New Delhi | Jagran Technology Desk: Tech giant Apple on Wednesday unveiled the second-generation iPhone SE. The Cupetino-based company has launched the new smartphone at Rs 42,500 in India. The new iPhone is vastly cheaper than the previous models launched last year.

The second-generation iPhone SE will feature a 4.7-inch Retina HD display and a Touch ID, unlike its flagship models which come with Face ID. However, the new model is powered by the same Apple-designed A13 Bionic chip used in iPhone 11 and 11 Pro and Max.

iPhone SE has a single-camera system unlike the dual-camera set-up in iPhone 11 and triple-camera set-up in iPhone 11 Pro. However, iPhone SE does support the Portrait mode and is 'designed to withstand the elements with dust and water resistance'.

The latest model comes in three colours -- black, white and Product RED. Also, the iPhone will be available in three variants 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. Regarding the availability, Apple said: "iPhone SE is available through Apple Authorised Resellers and select carriers (prices may vary)."

How is it different from the previous iPhone SE:

The new model is is an upgraded version of the low-cost model iPhone SE launched in 2016, sale of which was stopped in 2018.

The new iPhone SE features a 4.7-inch screen unlike the previous iPhone SE which featured a 4-inch display. The chipset has also witnessed an upgrade in the new iPhone SE as it comes with A13 bionic chip, while the previous one featured A9 bionic chip.

In terms of camera, there is a single camera system on the back with a 12MP f/1.8 sensor and a True Tone LED flash in the second-generation iPhone SE, while in the front the company offers a 7MP f/2.2 sensor that supports Portrait Mode, Retina Flash, Auto HDR. The previous iPhone SE was launched with 1.2 MP f/2.4 sensor at the front, with Face detection, HDR, panorama features only.

In terms of battery, the new iPhone SE offers the same amount of battery life as the iPhone 8 and can run videos for up to 13 hours and audio for 40 hours, while the previous model comes with a Non-removable Li-Po 1624 mAh battery. The new iPhone SE also supports wireless charging.

In what could be another popular twist, the new iPhone SE brings back the home button. That's a notable change from the iPhone 11 line, which ditched the once-familiar button to accommodate larger screens that can handle the highest-quality video and photos.

In terms of memory and storage, the new model supports 3GB RAM, with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options, while the iPhone SE 1 supports only 2GB RAM with 16 GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options.
