WWDC 2023: Apple finally revealed its highly-anticipated Apple Vision Pro at the massive tech-packed event today, and the machine will run on visionOS, the tech giant conveyed. VisionOS, the world's first software crafted for "spatial computing," the fancy term Apple has chosen for AR/VR experience. The OS focuses heavily on displaying digital elements in the real world, according to The Verge.
WWDC 2023: VisionOS Features
The 3D interface offered by visionOS breaks away from the fixed screen sizes of a traditional device. It actively responds to lighting conditions to optimise the user experience.
VisionOS in Vision Pro transforms the entire input system. The functions are controlled through the wearer's hands, eyes, and voice. In the demo, icons and UI windows are visible in real-life surroundings. Moreover, a user can just look at the search bar through the lens to enter text in the field. With the help of the software, the new headset can handle multiple apps and sync through other Apple products for enhanced productivity.
Apple also showcased an Optic ID that uses an Iris scan for security authentication. This data is encrypted. It also supports Mac screen transfer to scale the display size in a seemingly real-life environment. Lastly, the EyeSight feature in Vision Pro acts as a bridge between the wearer and the other world for communication.
Apple Vision Pro: VisionOS Apps
VisionOS will have a new app store for Vision Pro-exclusive apps. The OS was thrown open to developers for building app packages. As a result, several apps will be available for the device once it releases. According to TechCrunch, the OS will bundle apps from Adobe, Microsoft, Zoom and other app makers at the time of launch.
Besides these, 100+ Apple Arcade titles would be live from "day one," the company said. The software will further enable wearers to watch 3D movies with Spatial Audio through Vision Pro.
