Foldable iPhone: As far as smartphones are concerned, there are a few devices like the supposed foldable by Apple that have been making a lot of buzz. Reportedly, the Cupertino-based tech giant had announced a revision of its launch cycle. While the iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to stay in line with the usual launch timeline, the base variant of this series could be launched next year. Then it leaves us with one question: where's the foldable iPhone?

According to a report from Weibo, the microblogging platform, shared by Phone Arena, the foldable iPhone could show up alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. Apple’s foldable phone, featuring a new hinge mechanism and custom components, is expected to enter mass production in July. That coincides with the start of production for iPhone 18 Pro displays, suggesting the foldable could launch around the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro models in September.
Competition On The Way
While Apple seems to prepare its foldable offering, its core competitor Samsung is also working with another Galaxy foldable, with similar proportions to the foldable iPhone, reportedly being called the Galaxy Z Wide Fold; the device might likely come out alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
What Can You Expect?
Apple’s much-rumoured iPhone Fold is shaping up to be a serious hybrid between a phone and a mini iPad. The device is expected to open like a book, with a slim profile under 10mm when closed and around 5mm when unfolded. The outer display may measure about 5.3–5.5 inches, while the inner screen could stretch close to 7.7–7.8 inches. Apple is reportedly experimenting with ultra-thin glass layered with advanced polymers to strengthen the foldable panel and reduce the dreaded crease, with a hinge using liquid metal for durability.
The titanium frame and premium hinge are designed to prevent flexing over time. Camera-wise, leaks point to a dual 48MP rear setup, with separate cameras for folded and unfolded use. To save space, Face ID could be dropped in favour of side-mounted Touch ID. The foldable iPhone may pack Apple’s largest-ever battery, come in black or white, and cost $1,800–$2,500. September 2026 remains the most likely launch window.

Apple's Biggest Leap Yet?
The tech giant didn't just jump into the trend right away and has had a few years of experience watching the device and mistakes of others from afar. This could be Apple's biggest redesign of the decade, and it's not a simple machine to make. Even the display is being handled by Samsung this time, with LG taking a back seat.
