Apple Foldable Device Update: Apple’s first foldable iPhone—a much-rumoured phenomenon in both leaks and prototypes—is now a bit closer to being an actual product on store shelves. The reports come ahead of a new report from United Daily News, which says that the device has entered EVT and early pre-mass production, suggesting Apple is no longer in stages for conceptual design. According to rumours, at least some of Apple's component suppliers have parts on the shelf and are waiting for the final go-ahead before they ship out. After years of experimenting with designs, the step from lab to reality seems imminent, with mere tweaks needed before production starts.

Major Milestone: Crease-Free Display

One of the report’s biggest reveals is that Apple managed to create a crease-free inner display. The hinge and display mechanism have been in the works for around five years, not to mention the new design will make the folding crease that currently still is visible on most foldable phones go extinct. The phone will also allegedly pack a vapour chamber cooling mechanism, which made its way onto the iPhone 17 Pro series for the first time. Chi Hung is said to be the supplier of this component, and other supply chain winners include Samsung, TSMC, Foxconn, Shin Zu Shing, and Largan Precision.

Expected Specs, Features and Market Strategy

Current information suggests the foldable iPhone could feature a 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.8-inch inner display. It may run on the new A20 Pro chipset built on TSMC’s 2nm process—expected to power the broader iPhone 18 lineup as well. Apple is also believed to be exploring silicon-carbon batteries to push capacity higher, although final specifications remain unconfirmed.

A production goal makes a confident statement. Apple is reportedly hoping to ship 7-9 million in the first year, far more than your typical Android foldable's debut numbers. Analysts believe that if the product is launched with strong durability and compelling software optimisation, it could redefine what we know of the foldable category and shake up the rest of the industry.

Price Expectations and Launch Outlook

So, what could Steger cost? Well, its estimates are on the high side. Initial reports point to a starting price of $2,399 (roughly ₹2.14 lakh), but some in the industry say Apple could aim to drop the entry tier and target sales volume. On the subject of timing for a release, there’s nothing official except word from suppliers that the project has now entered a phase where it's time to refine features, not determine core structures.

Final Thoughts

Apple's long-rumoured foldable iPhone is one step closer to reality ‘Engineering verification’ underway, claims new report A creaseless screen, next-generation A series of silicon and lofty manufacturing goals indicate that Apple isn’t even following the foldable trend; it’s coming to reset it altogether. Assuming that the pricing, durability, and positioning meet expectations, this could be one of Apple’s most disruptive launches since the first iPhone.
