On the night of October 10th, that is, tonight, at 8:30 PM IST, Electronic Arts (EA) will unveil Battlefield 6. The new chapter of the shooter series that has been going for a long time will be released in two editions – the Standard Edition and the Phantom Edition.

The Standard Edition is just the base game, whereas the Phantom Edition includes limited add-ons like tank skins, weapon bundles, and other special items. Besides, pre-loading is allowed for both versions by EA, so players who pre-order the game can download it before the time of release and play it immediately when the pre-load ends.

Pre-loading is a method that allows users to get the whole game files before the release; thus, players with a slow internet connection will not have to wait until the game is fully downloaded at the time of release.

Price, Editions, and Platforms

-Standard Edition: ₹3,999 on Steam

-Phantom Edition: ₹5,999 on Steam

-Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC

Storyline

According to media reports, Battlefield 6 is an arrival of 2027 to 2028 events, following Dagger 13, an elite Marine Raider unit that is given the task to stop Pax Armata, a mercenary organisation that is plotting to overthrow the world after the fall of NATO.

The campaign features these barren lands of war, the Sahara Desert, Gibraltar, and New York City, the most technologically advanced battlefields in the world, each created to combine narrative with player interactive sequences that introduce new mechanics and mission types.

Gameplay

Battlefield 6 remains the classic team combat design, as the movement and tactical parts have been improved and refined. Conquest, Breakthrough, King of the Hill, Domination, and Payload are some of the multiplayer formats available – a combination of strategic and high-intensity actions.

The class setup is the following:

-Support: Heals and revives injured allies faster

-Engineer: Repairs and sabotages enemy vehicles

-Assault: Is the easiest when it comes to direct combat

-Recon: Is great in long-range and gathering of intelligence

Players can now do all that while they are climbing on a moving vehicle, taking cover and dragging injured allies to revive them. The highly popular Battlefield Portal is back, letting users create personalised maps, alter NPC behaviour, and modify game mode settings with the help of tools.

Nine maps with terrain that can be blown down and 45 weapons in eight groups are offered at the start of the game. The new Escalation mode is concentrated on team-based tactical play. Season 1 is going to be released on October 29, 2025, and along with it there will be more maps, weapons, and community-driven updates.

Pre-Load and File Size

EA has enabled pre-loading on all platforms except the Epic Games Store. The download size is roughly 70 GB, which varies slightly by platform and edition. EA strongly suggests that users pre-load to avoid any inconvenience at the time of release.

How to Pre-Load on PC (via Steam, Epic, or EA App):

1. Launch the platform of your choice, then navigate to the Battlefield 6 page.

2. If you have made a purchase, go to your game library.

3. To start your download, click on Pre-load.
