The much-anticipated 4.0 update for Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) introduces a host of new content designed to reshape how players engage with the game. The update highlights a brand-new map location created in India, festive events, and novel gameplay modes that offer fresh challenges.
What’s New in BGMI 4.0
Stepwell Battleground
The standout addition is Stepwell, now part of the Erangel map. It’s the first location in the game designed with Indian themes, featuring layered architecture that offers opportunities for vertical combat, ambushes, and long-range sniping. Team coordination matters more than ever here.
Diwali Festivities
From October 18 to 24, BGMI celebrates Diwali with fireworks in Stepwell that add visual flair to the battleground. This seasonal touch turns combat zones into celebration areas, letting squads enjoy the festival spirit amid the action.
Ghost‑Revival Mechanics
Fallen teammates aren’t out for good. The Ghost Gameplay feature allows eliminated players to return as ghosts with active and passive abilities—healing, scanning enemies, defensive support—to stay relevant to their squad even after being taken down.
Unfail 4v1 Survival Mode
Want something different? In Unfail 4v1, one hunter must track and eliminate four survivors. The survivors must evade capture in tense stealth‑based chases. It’s a mode built to test strategy, patience, and nerves.

Spooky Events & Diwali Rewards
The update also launches seasonal content: the Spooky Soiree introduces ghostly encounters, a haunted mansion (Wraithmoor), and a magic broom that dashes and attacks. Meanwhile, the Diwali Exchange Centre runs from October 3 to 23. Weekend rewards, new weapons like the mortar, and other incentives are also part of the mix.
